Veteran Student Services provides support to the veteran student population for their successful transition from military service to campus life and beyond.
We are happy that you chose to join our Hurricane family and thankful for the service that you have given to our country. The University of Miami is an exciting and vibrant community that recognizes and celebrates diversity. As you enter the University community please know that we will make every effort to ensure that your transition is a smooth one. Veteran Student Services will guide you through an array of information and resources that are vital to your introduction to campus life. These areas include benefits, career planning, counseling, tutoring, and just getting to know the campus.
Veteran Students Organization
The organization was established during Fall 2011 semester and is recognized by the Council of Student Organizations (COSO).
The mission of the Veteran Students Organization (VSO) is to bring military veterans together in order to foster fellowship and mentoring among those attending the University of Miami.
The goals of the VSO are to:
- Support Military Veterans at the University of Miami.
- Share information on topics such as academic success, financial stability, educational benefits, and Veterans Administration (VA) policies and procedures.
- Educate the UM community on veteran issues.
- Establish a network of veterans to mentor incoming veteran students.
- Provide service within the surrounding community, especially to disabled veterans in the Miami VA Healthcare System.
